Finale: Looking Back to Move Forward
This session marks the culmination of our year together. As we reach the end of this particular journey, we will take the time to acknowledge our collective growth and the unique evolution of this group. 'Cryin' with Ryan' has served as a vital, identity-centered space for male-identifying adoptees to confront hidden truths and find community; now, we turn our attention to the meaningful act of parting ways and navigating the loss of this shared container.
Our finale will center on reflection, legacy, and the specific intersections of masculinity and vulnerability. We will engage in a guided memory timeline to honor the ground we’ve covered and write letters to our future selves, anchoring the insights we’ve gained. We will also hold space to discuss the "post-anniversary" emotional landscape, specifically exploring how it relates to modern masculinity: the permission to feel, the acceptability of tears, and the weight of being witnessed.
By "eulogizing" the group, we aim to honor the connections made and the stories shared. We will reflect on how we’ve moved through identity confusion, loss, and resilience together, ensuring that while the sessions are ending, the strategies for support and the sense of being understood remain.
